I have finaly decided to try fly fishing so I will add some of the links I find helpful here. My first outfit consists of a Tibor Back Country Wide reel with a 9 wt Scientific Anglers Wet Cell line and a TFO 9wt TiCr rod. The reel was purchased from Cabela's, the rod from Bass Pro Outdoor World in Dania and the line from the Fly Shop at 5130 N. Federal Hwy. (US1) in Ft. Lauderdale. Most of my fishing will be done in the surf which is the reason for the sinking line.
A Basic Guide to Saltwater Fly Fishing in Southwest Florida by Don Phillips was a lot of help getting me started. activeangler.com had a lot of helpful articles. Dan Blanton, is acknowledged by many of the nation's leading fly anglers to be one of the pioneers in the development of Pacific coast and Central American saltwater fly fishing. His site has a lot of useful information, even if it isin't always easy to find. Fish & Fly is from the UK, but had some good basic information. FlyLife OnLine form Australia & New Zealand was also helpful. Getting Started in Fly Fishing presented by Hook & Hackle was a good quick overview. Fly Fishing In SaltWaters Magazine is not only a great monthly publication, but has a lot of information online. Saltwater Fly Fishing Magazine is another source. Flats Boat Casting Technique by Capt. Tom White is one I don't need yet, but I an holding it for future refrence. letsflyfis.com has some good articles, including some casting videos.
